What is the challenge?
Thomas Friedman wrote about the new Flat World, and the challenge
facing most developed ‘first world’ countries.
As large numbers of well educated and ambitious students graduate
and enter the global economy from places such as China, India,
Israel, Mexico and others areas, we need a new model to enable
our children to sharpen their skills that will allow them to compete
and excel on a Global Level.
While critically important on a national scale, no longer are
the SAT or ACT a sufficient measure of future success. It is time
our methods and metrics extended globally to equip our children
to best meet this new challenge.
What is Global Leaders?
Global Leaders provides coaching to enable our children to excel
in the 2 key areas needed for excellence in leadership on a global
stage:
How is it different from other ‘learning programs’?
Global Leaders does 2 things differently:
- Teach Concepts – Nothing is taught by rote, all concepts
are driven home to ensure lifelong success.
- Follow Global Standards – Teach standards that ensure
our children are competitive whether they are in London, San
Francisco, Shanghai or Bangalore.
How do we teach?
‘Learning is the art of Assisting Discovery’ –
van Duren
Teaching in class is by active class interaction, along with
practical problem-solving and case studies.
A Focused Approach
Global Leaders believes in a strongly focused Curriculum that
will sharpen and grow our children's skills in Analytics and Communication.
Leadership Analytics - Analytics is not simply
learning math by rote. Instead, it is the learning of analytics
concepts systematically and incrementally.
This builds problem solving skills and confidence, and allows
children to take any analytical problem and break it down into
manageable chunks enabling them to solve it clearly and confidently.
In class: Our approach stresses coach-led classroom
learning, where emphasis is placed on practical cases and examples
and children learn in an open atmosphere of class discussion.
Each discussion is then followed by a section of class work where
children collaborate to solve problems.
At home: The children also receive a carefully
selected set of take-home problems designed to reinforce key concepts
at home. Assignments may be completed online, and real time help
via chat is accessible.
Leadership Communication - Strong Communication
skills consist of mastery over both written and spoken communication,
in conjunction with persuasive skills, negotiation skills and
the command of effective public speaking
Leadership Communication consists of two sections:
Leadership Speaking - the art of persuasive
speech in a manner that is confident and result oriented, where
children can convey their intention in simple, masterful speech
and negotiate and persuade in a global culture in an effective
manner. The courses are delivered in the following focus areas,
and build incrementally through the session.
- Individual Communication - persuasive speaking
- Small group Communication - persuasive speaking
- Large Audience Communication - persuasive speaking
Persuasive Writing - the art of persuasive writing
in a manner that is confident and result oriented, where children
can convey their intention in simple, masterful writing and negotiate
and persuade in a global culture in an effective manner. The courses
are delivered in the following focus areas, and build incrementally
through the session.
- Individual Communication - persuasive writing
- Small group Communication - persuasive writing
- Large Audience Communication - persuasive writing
In class: Our approach stresses coach-led classroom
learning, where emphasis is placed on practical cases and examples
and children learn in an open atmosphere of class discussion.
Each discussion is centered on case discussions, open debate,
written essays and letters.
At home: The children also receive a carefully
selected set of take-home assignments designed to reinforce key
concepts at home. Assignments may be completed online, and real
time help via chat is accessible.
Global Curriculum
The curriculum combines the top national school standards along
with the high school standards of China, India, Canada, Israel
and other nations.
Our Coaches
Our coaches are the best and brightest that hail from academic
and business fields, and for each of them___teaching is a passion.
We do not believe in strict instruction, learning is a process
of discovery and the child who is gently guided and encouraged
in the process learns best.
